Fantasy Goals League

Scoring Explained

Unlikely heroes score big. Goalkeeper goals score biggest.

FWD GOAL

+1

Routine. That's their job.

MID GOAL

+2

Nice, but expected.

DEF GOAL

+5

An event. Back the set-piece threats.

GK GOAL

+50

History. The headline act.

Clean sheets: +5

Defenders and goalkeepers, for matches they actually played in. Concede once and it’s gone.

Worked example

Your defender scores and keeps a clean sheet: 5 + 5 = 10 points — before your captain’s ×2 turns it into 20.

The philosophy

Classic fantasy games reward the obvious: pick the star striker, collect the points. Here the weighting is inverted — the rarer the scorer, the bigger the reward. A forward's goal is routine (+1). A defender popping up at a corner is an event (+5). And a goalkeeper scoring — a stoppage-time header or a wind-assisted clearance — is a season-defining +50.

That means squad-building strategy is different: goal-scoring defenders and set-piece threats matter more than in other games, and there's always a lottery-ticket argument for a goalkeeper who likes to wander up for corners.

Clean sheets and appearances

Defenders and goalkeepers earn +5 when their club keeps a clean sheet — but only for matches they actually played in. Appearance data comes from real match records, so a player who was injured or unused doesn't collect clean-sheet points from the stands. If the team concedes even once, there's no bonus.

Only goals and clean sheets count

That’s it — there’s no scoring for assists, and no mysterious arbitrary bonus points. Every point on the board traces back to a goal or a clean sheet in the table above, so what you see is what you get.

Only your starting XI scores

Points count for the eleven players in your saved lineup for that gameweek. The five squad players you leave out score nothing that week, so pick your XI with the fixtures in mind — the Pick Team page shows each player's opponents. The exception is the once-per-season Bench Boost chip, which brings the whole squad into play for that gameweek.

Prices follow points

After each gameweek, player prices drift with the points scored — up for scorers, gently down for blanks, never below a floor. The rules are fixed and public:

Gameweek outcomePrice change
Each point scored+£0.02M (max +£0.5M per gameweek)
Blank (0 points)−£0.05M
FloorNever below £0.1M

Example: a defender scores and keeps a clean sheet (10 points) → +£0.20M. A 50-point keeper goal hits the cap → +£0.5M, not +£1.0M. Prices recalculate once per gameweek, from a fixed formula — nothing manual, nothing hidden.
